Indian bands that are taking music to another level

 It’s hard to survive as a musician in India without submitting to Bollywood. Yet, there are a few bands in the country that may be considered the saving grace of the independent music scene of India. With music in different genres, languages and styles, some of these indie bands are already a big name and the rest are about to be in a matter of time.

INDIVA

It is India’s Leading All-Diva-Band blends their unique styles and talents encompassing the elements of nature. Wind, Earth, Water and Fire into their Sound of Music.

This unique band is organized by Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent. Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent has presented so many bands and INDIVA is one of the successful band. INDIVA has performed in so many events which were executed by Vijay Dalwani. Vijay Dalwani has organized more than 300 events like corporate events, wedding events, dance and musical events, etc. till now. Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent is top-notch with over 20 years of experience.

Parikrama

One of the pioneers of rock and roll in India, Parikrama is now 25 years old and only getting better. They are still one of the most electrifying bands to watch live in India and their quintessential essence of classic rock can hardly be matched. They have several live performances and original numbers to their name. The band was officially formed on 17 June 1991 in Delhi. They are yet to release a full-length album, because they prefer giving out their music for free. They have had millions of downloads from their site and other related pages. Parikrama rarely records music in the studio, and most recordings are made in live performances. Parikrama released a lockdown version of ‘Vapourize’ in which Nitin sang the song in a new style.


Coshish

Coshish is a Hindi progressive rock band from Mumbai, formed in 2006. Their debut album Firdous was released via Universal Music India and they are currently working on a box set. The band believes that their music should have mass appeal and yet showcase their musical dexterity. Their songs are as simple as they are complex and carry strong social messages, delivered through Hindi lyrics. The members endorse Mapex Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Blade Guitars, ESP Basses and Laney Amplifiers. The four member prog rock band is one of the finest vernacular rock bands in the country and their popularity is rising steady and fast.


Soulmate

With the perfect raw essence of old school blues, Soulmate is one of the classiest rock bands the country has seen. Formed in 2003, the band from Shillong, Meghalaya, Soulmate was the sole blues band to represent India at the 23rd International Blues Challenge, America. The band is primarily made up of Rudy Wallang (guitar/vocals/songwriter) and Tipriti TIPS Kharbangar (vocals/guitar), although they frequently team up with session musicians (on drums, bass, organ and possibly other backup instruments) when on tour. Tipriti is considered as one of the finest female singers to have emerged from North East India and Wallang is considered one of the most respected blues guitarists of India.


Folk Swaggers

Folk Swaggers is a band which blends the Indian folk Music, popular Bollywood and Regional movie songs with western and funky sounds, new renditions and curating amazing music for all celebrations.

Indian folk music is a rich heritage of our country and it has given inspiration to many popular movie songs in various languages too. We may be enjoying a chartbuster bollywood song without even realizing its roots originating from Indian Folk Music.

Folk Swaggers perform for music festivals, wedding sangeet functions, corporate events and concerts. It is managed by Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent. Inner Sanctum

Bangalore’s thrash metal band, Inner Sanctum, had been the winners of Jack Daniel’s Rock Award, Levis Band of the Year and their 2009 EP, Provenance, had been listed in Rock Street Journal’s Top 10 EP’s of The Decade (2010). Oh, and they had also opened for Metallica in 2011. Inner Sanctum have gigged extensively all across the country and supported some of the biggest metal bands in India, including Metallica for 2011 Vladivar Rock ‘N India in Bangalore. They opened the 2011 Rock ‘N India show along with Guillotine and Scottish Band Biffy Clyro for Metallica on October 30, 2011. 


SAMARPAN

Samarpan is a musical offering by youthful artists who have come together and emerged as a band with an intention of showing musical solidarity to the traditionally rich Indian classical music. As the name suggests ,it is an attempt to musically surrender to the great musical ethos & create every moment musically joyful.It is music of genuine passion and ardour. Samarpan has also performed at some prestigious festivals like Sanskaram in Baroda and Hydourite in Hyderabad. Recently they performed in Kuwait for a corporate firm. This band is also managed by Vijay Dalawani and his company Harmony Events & Talent. Apart from this Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent also promotes top-notch artists in the field of Bollywood singing, Ghazals & Sufi nights, International Deejays, Dance troupes, mentalists/Illusionists, Folk Artists, Aerial Acts, Indipop bands and Desi nights. 


Kedar’s Creators

A versatile and popular Garba/Dandiya group, with performances rocking the navratri floors all over the world since 1988. Their events are organized by Vijay Dalwani of Harmony Events & Talent. Created by the well-known musician, percussionist, arranger and composer, Kedar Bhagat who has several accolated on his name in the field of Bollywood and Navartri Music. Kedar also being a music composer, has composed music for a lot of Ad-films, Jingles, In-house motivational songs for corporates, Title tracks for TV etc. Another feather in Kedar’s cap was composing a song for the movie, ‘Iqbal’ produced by Subhash Ghai and directed by Nagesh Kukoonur. It was acknowledged as a huge success by the industry as well as the masses.


Fossils

The magnanimous rock gods of Bengal, Fossils were the pioneers of the genre called Bangla Rock. With boys and girls breaking into hysteria at the sight of the national award winner, vocalist and the band, Fossils took on fans outside Bengal as well when they rocked Pune in NH7 Weekender, 2015.


RAF (Rakesh And Friends)

RAF is a young group of extremely talented musicians comprising the versatile Rakesh Chaurasia (Flute),dynamic Gino Banks (Drums), powerful Satyajit Talwalkar(Tabla), electrifying Sheldon D’Silva (Bass Guitar), soulful Sanjoy Das aka Bapi (Guitar) and sparkling Sangeet Haldipur (Keyboard/ Vocalist & Composer).

RAF effectively blends Indian Classical Music with World Music . Rakesh who has undoubtedly made his mark as one of the finest young flute virtuosos brought about the initiative of extending the boundaries of his musical realm. He combined his understanding of diverse Indian musical gharana styles with world music styles through imaginative experiments.


These were just a few to mention. The country has a lot more  talent waiting to be discovered.

Fundraiser event was organized for the help of the families of our soldiers who were martyred in the Uri attack. In 2016 the grenade attacks were carried out by four terrorists near the town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported as "the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades". At around 5:30 a.m. on 18 September, four terrorists attacked an Indian Army brigade headquarters in Uri, near the Line of Control in a pre-dawn ambush.
